We now live in a world where kids play Pokémon with their dads instead of their dads having no clue what a Pokyman is. Because kids that grew up with it are more than old enough to have kids that are old enough to understand it.
Three times in the last week I’ve played the trading card game with my 8 year old boy. My Dad called today and asked him if we watched the Super Bowl, and he say the Patriots win. when Jonah said. “No” I could fell my Dad’s heart sink. So Pop I just didn’t ever get into football.
Of Coarse there’s still things my kid knows about that I don’t have a clue about. Thankfully the internet helps. He told me about something called 5 Nights at Freddy’s. which I guess is popular with kids but not all “intended for kids”. I told him it looks gross and if kids bring it up to change the subject, or ignore them. I know it’s not as spiritstic and demented as it looks, but it looks like some nightmare induction shit that I don’t want my kid around.

It’s my fault. But to be far the game went on past his bedtime on a Sunday.

My dad and I watch more football together now than when I was living under his roof. As a child, he had the habit off turning off the TV or leaving the room anytime something was going wrong. Not even in a dramatic way. He would just sigh and slowly move about, cool as a cucumber.
“Why aren’t you watching anymore?”
“Oh, I already know how it’s going to end. And hey, maybe if I stop watching something good will happen.”

I’m the exact opposite. I love football and my dad only watched the super bowl because my mom was out of town, there was no Real Housewives of Antarctica on(it said his stress reliever), and some of his employees had people over. He won’t even watch Tennessee Football to see if I come on TV while at a game. I will say, I brought him to the UT Vs Georgia game when we upset them and he did have a blast.

Five nights at freddies was a big thing for almost 2-3 years now, surprised your kid just now mentioned it. But I don’t blame you for not knowing about it, unless you kept up with video game news or looked at the youtube trending, you’d honestly never know. For a person like me sitting between as a teenager that’s almost an adult but not quite there, I’m young enough to know all the trends, but old enough to think they’re all stupid. On a different note, it is cheerful to see things like pokemon making a bridge within the age gap, a wooden bridge that’s not too strong, but one at all. And now I’m thinking about what if kids decided to be less ignorant and try to learn about the things their parents are/were interested so they could get along more.

I used to watch games, football, baseball mostly, but I only did it because it was something my Dad would do with me. Never had a real interest in it. I’m sure if we lived closer we’d get together for game every now and then, but we leive 2200 miles apart.
